The problem with plastic is that it does not break down organically. Millions of tons of it washes or blows into streams, rivers and drains and a lot of this reaches the seas around us which are now dangerously polluted with plastic waste.
As a group we are focusing on the reduction and, eventually, the elimination of single use plastics and hard-to-recycle plastics. Our local Co-op is also concerned about this problem and is taking some quite strong measures.
At our next meeting (see details above) Greg from the Co-op is coming to talk about what the Co-op is doing both locally and nationally. The White Hart is hosting this meeting, nibbles will be on the tables and of course the bar is open! Please come along, find out what is going on, and about the small things we can all do to help.
